Born and raised on Chicago's Southside, Steve Smooth first immersed himself in the dance music scene starting out at a record store and then a Chicago based independent record label. As a dj, Steve worked to perfect his style of mixing, hitting the Chicago club circuit. This, along with Guest appearances on several college radio stations helped to gain him recognition, eventually leading to a frequent guest spot on the Sunday mix show, "The Street Flava," which aired on Chicago's largest radio station B96 (96.3 FM).

Steve first began working in the studio producing and remixing tracks for some of the hottest dance labels. With mixes like "Everyday My Life" and the remix of the vocal anthem, "Time" by legendary house diva Dajae, Steve quickly made his mark in the house and dance music community. As well, his work has received much deserved attention from Billboard Magazine. His first original production "Beat Freaker" created a frenzy on dance-floors, worldwide.

As a production force to be reckoned with, Steve's skills in the studio earned him a part on Bad Boy Bill's production team, giving him credit on Bad Boy Bill's dance-floor hits, "Everybody," "Costa Del Sol" and "Happy" alongside his mix compilation "Behind The Decks." Working with Bad Boy Bill, Steve hooked up with production partner, JJ Flores. Together, they found a signature sound that is guaranteed to fill dance floors across the Globe. Peak hour tracks like "Release", "Get Naked" & "Time For Love" have become bonafide hits and have led to releases on such labels as: Ministry of Sound (UK), Sound Division (Italy), Vendetta (Spain), Fine Tune (France) & Ménage Music (US). Steve & JJ have remixed for many mainstream artists such as Nelly Furtado, Santana & Chad Kroeger from Nickelback. Their remix of "Dancin" by Aaron Smith was a Top 10 hit in the UK Pop Charts. With the success of the duo's production, Ménage Music released “The Collection” in 2006; Steve's debut album with production partner, JJ Flores.

In addition to producing, Steve maintains an impressive DJ schedule. Voted as one of "America's Favorite DJs", according to BPM Magazine, Steve took his skills as a DJ to countless shows including UK, Germany, Spain, Hong Kong, Canada, and North and South Americas alongside Bad Boy Bill from 2002 - 2004. Over the past 3 years Steve has been touring solo and headlining the same venues he once played as the opening DJ for Bad Boy Bill. The summers of 2006 & 2007 found Steve on tour with JJ Flores and the Bad Ass B*tches. The tour (aptly entitled The Debauchery Tour) hit 20 + major cities in the US and Canada each year with rave reviews from media and general music loving patrons. So much so, both DJs found themselves with a monthly debauchery residency at Chicago's own Spy Bar in 2006 until moving the residency to Crobar (Chicago) in the summer of 2007. In addition to his hometown residency, Steve recently launched a new residency with Ink in Miami, FL and continues to be a fixture on Whettravel's "Groove Cruise." 2007 Steve founded his Electronic Rock Band aptly named the Shock Stars. Within the 1st year they have found themselves opening for bands such as AFI & Kill Hannah but more impressively beating out over 2000 bands to win the MP3.com's "Last Band Standing" contest to perform on the main stage of the infamous music festival "Lollapalooza."

Jackola is one of Indy's busiest DJs, infusing multiple styles of house music at bars, clubs and events across the city, as well as at his monthly residencies at Metro Nightclub, Talbott Street and Upland Brewing in the Murphy Arts Building. Voted one of Indy's Top 3 DJs in 2011 by NUVO readers, you can also catch him across Indiana and even in major cities like Denver, Chicago and Detroit. He's opened for the likes of Paul van Dyk, Derrick Carter, Above & Beyond and Donald Glaude, as well as played at large scale music festivals like Forecastle Festival, Monolith Festival, Midwest Music Summit, Oranje and Mojostock. He's also one of the founding promoters of Broad Ripple Music Fest, the founder of local music promoter OnTrack, and local house music DJ collective INHouse DJs. You never know if you'll catch him playing tech house, funky house, hip house or even into the break beats and dubstep, but one thing's for certain: he commands the dance floor to move!
